Rube Goldberg Machine

Course Description: EGR 121 (Engineering Innovation)
Project Length: 4.5 weeks
Project Description:
This project involved was the final design challenge for the EGR 121 course. The goal of the project was to create a Rube Goldberg machine. Each team, consisting of 20 students, was responsible for their own Rube Goldberg Machine. Furthermore, subteams of 3-4 students were responsible for creating each subsection of
Skills Obtained/Used:
-
Circuit Building
-
C++ Coding for Arduino
-
3D Printing
-
Interactions and Handoffs
-
Team and subteam communication
Solution to Design Challenge:
When we consulted with our 20-man large group, my subteam was tasked with the starting position.
Key Takeaways/Evaluations:
After completing this project, I learned a lot of important lessons. First and foremost, communication is key. We made that an important goal for our subteam before we even started constructing anything. We saw firsthand other teams struggling to gain progress on their projects as it took them a while to configure .
However, not everything workd well for us. Our subteam ran into a few challenges along the way in which one of them was that we struggled to . Additionally, we experienced a problem . However, we overcame these issues by... .
Overall, this was a successful project where I gained more knowledge about how microcontrollers and sensors function, how to intertwine different with each other on a circuit, and how to program the sensors to work well together using C++.
